Mr. Davenport started developing a passion for Karate after he was discharged from the US Navy in 1964, and when he got back to Anderson, Indiana, he looked up his good friend, Mr. Glenn R. Keeney, who proceeded to show some of the techniques that he had learned. Dave Krieg, Jerry Green, Mr. Keeney, and Mr. Davenport made up Anderson, Indiana's first karate class held in the fall of 1964. On June 5, 1970, Mr. Davenport tested for Shodan, and he was officially promoted to that rank by Master Robert A. Trias, Director of the USKA (United States Karate Association). Along with competing in tournaments, Mr. Davenport established a dojo in Alexandria, Indiana initially in May of 1975 and again in January of 1986. Mr. Davenport's two greatest accomplishments are being inducted into the Trias International Society and having the Large Double Axe award bestowed on him by Master Phillip Koeppel.
Mr. Davenport has promoted several students to Yudansha including Mr. Mark Campbell and Mr. Terry Gruel.
